My name is Jean Taylor, and I have lived in East Texas since 1994. I have been
practicing bankruptcy law for over 25 years.
I have been married for 26 years, like to run every day, and love the outdoors. Additionally, I wish I had more time to cook because I enjoy making meals for my family and close friends.
After graduating from the University of Texas and Texas Tech School of Law, I went to work for a Chapter 7 Trustee attorney in Longview. He was a great attorney and mentor—I learned a lot in the years that I worked for him. After leaving the firm in Longview, I started practicing law in Marshall and founded Jean H. Taylor, P.C. in 1998. I have been a solo practitioner since that time.
Community service is a large part of my life, and I enjoy helping people. I have served on the vestry of my former church, the board for a halfway house for women, the board of a small school in Marshall, and the Higher Education Finance Committee for the City of Marshall.
The practice of law has changed a lot over the years—especially recently. From having a staff of three employees to currently outsourcing the bit of work that I don’t myself personally handle (e.g., required mail-outs), I have learned to adjust with the times. I think the changes have made filing bankruptcy a little easier for most prospective debtors, but it remains a very detail-oriented area of law that requires the assistance of an experienced attorney.
My practice focuses solely on helping individuals facing financial problems. Bankruptcy may be a frightening prospect; however, with the assistance of an accomplished attorney, it is feasible and will enable you to resolve your debt issues.
